Apps & Tools
A series of free tools I created to help you process and enhance access to your oral history:

OHMS (Oral History Metadata Synchronizer) Free tool (now part of the Aviary Platform) for indexing, transcript editing, and enhancing access to online oral history.

The Synchronifier LE Tool designed to add time code to legacy transcripts that currently lack time-code synchronization.

CalcuDeets loads audio and video files (individually or in batches), calculates timecode and file size totals, and harvests basic technical metadata.

The VTT Cue Combiner Make a VTT transcript (or SRT) more OHMS compliant by grouping subsequent speaker cues into paragraphs.

Timecode Eraser removes timecode references (such as [HH:MM:SS], [HH:MM:SS:mm], (HH:MM:SS) from oral history transcripts, including any brackets or parentheses enclosing those timecodes.

The Caption Slicer Take a human-edited transcript with timecode associated with speaker changes and convert this to more granular captions. Requires a WebVTT or SRT version of the same transcript (un-edited and granular cues).

Transcript Accuracy Auditor Evaluate and score the overall effectiveness of machine-generated transcripts by comparing them (at the word-level) to a corrected reference version of the same interview.
